This course is designed for otolaryngologists, speech and language pathologists, and paramedical personnel who wish to further their understanding of the advanced diagnotic and treatment options for individuals with swallowing and voice disorders. Participants will be presented with a thorough understanding of the biomechanics of normal swallowing function. Swallowing diagnostics will be discussed in detail including fluoroscopy, endoscopy, and manometry. In addition, participants will gain knowledge of the state-of-the art treatments for swallowing disorders, including office-based procedures. Participants will also gain knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of benign laryngeal lesions, glottic insufficiency, and spasmodic dysphonia. Participants will learn the medical, behavioral, and surgical approaches (including office-based treatments) of laryngeal/vocal disorders.
